Less than two weeks ago, Storm DANA hit Spain and caused severe damage to infrastructure, disrupted transportation, and left more than 100,000 homes without power.
The catastrophic floods – which claimed over 200 lives – saw a record-breaking level of rainfall hit as some regions received up to 20 inches a single day. Valencia was affected the worst: the town alone endured a year’s worth of precipitation in just eight hour, making the phenomenon one of the deadliest natural disasters in Spain in decades.
Over the weekend, the ‘Despechá’ singer was seen helping those affected by the floods in the Valencia area. She anonymously signed up to volunteer with the World Central Kitchen, a non-profit organisation that gives out food to victims of natural disasters and war devastation.

The Grammy Award-winning pop star didn’t advertise that she was giving out meals to those in need and avoided sharing any images online. Fans found out Rosalía was helping the World Central Kitchen after she was featured in a photo shared by actress and TV host Paz Padilla, who also has been volunteering her time to help those in Valencia.
“What a beautiful moment we’ve shared the four of us,” Padilla said in an Instagram Story post. “When the heart leads your life, there’s no distance to help.”

As Spain recovers from the catastrophic impact of Storm DANA, the Spanish government has shared plans to roll out a €10.6billion (over £9billion) aid package to boost the recovery of the affected regions, particularly Valencia. A week after Storm DANA, another hit Spain – this time affecting the Malaga area.
Before Storm DANA hit her home country, Rosalía revealed that she was working on her fourth studio album. “It’s been a process,” she said. “I’ve changed a lot, but at the same time, I’m still wrapping my head around the same things. It’s like I still have the same questions and the same desire to answer them. I still have the same love for the past and the same curiosity for the future.”
The as-yet-titled record will serve as the follow-up to her critically-acclaimed, Latin Grammy Award-winning 2022 album, ‘Motomami‘. In a five-star review, NME said the LP was “40 minutes of the most thrilling, forward-thinking and discombobulating music we’re likely to hear all year.”
Back in August, the Catalonian also released the electro-pop anthem ‘New Woman’ with Lisa from BLACKPINK. The track was nominated for two awards at this year’s MTV EMAs in Manchester, England and ultimately took home the trophy for Best Collaboration – beating out Charli xcx and Billie Eilish, Taylor Swift and Post Malone, Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars and more.
