The new prequel film follows a younger version of Ford’s iconic Star Wars character with Alden Ehrenreich starring as Han Solo. Directed by Ron Howard, Solo: A Star Wars Story is out now.

However, as BBC report, analysts predicted that the Star Wars film would take between $130m and $150m within its debut weekend in North America. It unfortunately has pulled in a modest $103m.

It might seem gratuitous, but the 30 million deficit has prompted Lucasfilm and Disney to rework their strategy for the franchise.

Disney distribution chief Dave Hollis has questioned whether releasing ‘Solo’ while ‘Deadpool 2’ and ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ are in theatres was a wise move, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“There’s a question of frequency, and how many times people will go to the movies. Is this too much and too soon for a third time in a five-week period”.

Hollis even admitted that impressive international box office returns aren’t enough t save it. ‘Solo’ will have a worldwide opening of $148m compared to ‘The Last Jedi’ which opened with $230m.

Meanwhile, Harrison Ford has given his verdict on Solo: A Star Wars Story, with the film’s director Ron Howard claiming that the actor was “raving about it” after seeing the finished version.

As MovieWeb reports, Ford – who has apparently seen Solo “twice” – said that he “adores” the film.

“I had never heard Harrison [being] effusive about anything, and he was raving about it,” Howard recalled. “He said, ‘Alden nailed it. He made it his own.'”
